Medical Microdermabrasion – 45 Minutes

Using physician-grade technology, we gently exfoliate the skin surface of the face and neck with two passes of micronized crystals to smooth fine lines and reduce the appearance of brown spots, acne, and pigment irregularities. This is then followed by a gentle steam bio-peeling and manual extractions. Finally, a soothing gel mask and moisturizer are massaged into the skin to reduce tension. This treatment is also effective for the décolleté/chest, hands or arms. Best results are seen with 3-6 treatments.

  • Medical Microdermabrasion is performed by certified physicians and highly qualified and trained medical providers of Artisan Med Spa.
  • Over time and with age, skin develops a thicker layer of keratin, making it appear old and “worn-down”.
  • Medical Microdermabrasion is a painless gentle and gradual exfoliation and resurfacing of the skin’s dead cells.
  • It reduces skin damage caused by age, sun exposure, (photo-aging) and other environmental and hereditary factors.
  • It also stimulates the collagen network; resulting in the skin’s texture and appearance to “even-out”.
  • Additionally, it reduces the skin’s large pores and sunspots.
  • It produces a rejuvenation of aged skin and will minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, scarring and age spots.
  • Medical Microdermabrasion can be performed on any part of the body.
  • It can be used in conjunction with chemical peels and Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatments.
  • Medical Microdermabrasion can also be utilized for after laser or IPL therapy “blending”.
  • It also assists in the treatment of acne and acne scarring.

How Does it Work?

  • By utilizing sprays of tiny aluminum oxide crystals across the skin, or a medical-grade diamond tip, a medical device provides gentle skin abrasion.
  • While simultaneously suctioning and removing the dead cells from the microscopic outer top layer (epidermis) of skin.
  • The improvement of the skin’s texture, smoothness and appearance will be immediately noticeable after the completion of the treatment.
  • Patients should be able to resume all normal activities immediately.
  • After treatment, make-up can be reapplied.
  • Most treatments last about 30-60 minutes. It has been referred to as a “lunchtime peel”.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a manual, non-invasive, skin resurfacing procedure that uses a special surgical scalpel blade to remove the top layers of dead skin cells. Dermaplaning can be performed on parts of the face, the entire face, or anywhere on the body. It improves the appearance of acne-scarred skin and smoothes out facial wrinkles on the upper layers of the face. It is also an excellent treatment for melasma and environmentally damaged skin. Dermaplaning is an alternative to waxing and depilatories for removing unwanted facial hair, including vellus (light) hair or “peach fuzz” which is difficult to treat with light therapy or lasers. Facial hair does not grow back darker and thicker, but returns slowly and becomes sparser with each treatment. Your dermaplaning treatment will last 30 minutes. During your treatment, your provider will hold your skin taught with one hand while gently scraping the scalpel blade against the skin. You will feel no discomfort. Immediately after your treatment, your skin will feel soft and smooth, and look radiant.

Because Dermaplaning exposes the top layers of the epidermis, it creates a more efficient response from other laser or resurfacing procedures. Topical skin treatments can also be more effectively absorbed and can penetrate deeper following a dermaplaning treatment. Dermaplaning is appropriate for every skin type, especially those with hypersensitive skin that cannot tolerate other traditional methods of Exfoliation.

We also do a light chemical peel with this service because of the dermaplaning the peel penetrates more evenly and effectively. After that, we do cryotherapy. It is dry ice on the skin this helps with acne, hyperpigmentation, pore size, and redness.

Medical Peels

Medical Chemical Peel Treatments are performed by the highly trained medical providers of Artisan Med Spa.

Chemical peels, also known as chemical resurfacing, use a chemical solution to improve and smoothen the texture of the skin and to treat irregular pigmentation by removing the damaged outer layers of the skin. Chemical peels have been used for hundreds of years. Depending on the patient’s skin type and degree of damage, different agents and concentrations are used. These peels include lactic acid, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid.

How does it work?

  • Various solutions have different effects and penetrate into different depths of the skin.
  • The precise formula may be adjusted to meet each patient’s need.
  • These peels are used for the treatment of skin damage caused by solar (photo-aging), wrinkles, scarring, acne, precancerous lesions, and skin discolorations.
  • When performing a Medical Chemical Peel, by using higher concentrations of these well-balanced acids, medical providers can generate a significantly better outcome.

VI Peel

The VI Peel is ideal for treating hyperpigmentation melasma, reversing sun damage and signs of aging improving skin tone and texture clearing Acne & reducing Acne scars stimulating collagen growth and elastin production, for younger looking skin reducing the appearance of pores

The VI Peel is safe for all skin types and ethnicities. It is the only peel safe to use on the eye area, neck, chest and hands. No skin preconditioning is necessary.

It is virtually discomfort free. Clients typically experience a warm, tingly sensation that quickly subsides. There is little or no downtime. You’ll see beautiful results in just one week!

What happens during a VI Peel?

The VI Peel treatment is very convenient as it is performed in the clinic and requires no pre-treatment.

After the skin is cleaned, VI Peel will be applied topically to your skin.  Patients typically experience a warm, tingly sensation that quickly subsides.  The procedure takes only 20 to 30 minutes, but must leave the peel on the skin for five hours following the appointment.

With VI Peel, there is little or no downtime.  Peeling lasts 2 to 3 days and is easily managed with the post-peel kit that is included with the peel.  For a week or two following the peel, it’s best to avoid exfoliating products like glycolic acid and retinol.  Avoid direct and prolonged exposure to the sun.  As well, resist the temptation of pulling your peeling skin off – it’s important that you let it peel naturally.

Once your skin has completely recovered and is finished peeling, you will notice a visible improvement in your complexion.  Your skin’s appearance should continue to improve for the next 4 to 6 weeks, becoming firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier, and more youthful looking.

The best candidates for a VI Peel

Anyone seeking to improve their skin’s tone and reduce blemishes may be a candidate for a VI Peel.  The VI peel has been tested and used on individuals of a variety of skin tones, including Asian, African-American, and Latino skin types, which traditionally have not always responded positively to chemical peel treatments.  The VI peel was originally developed as a treatment for acne and acne scarring and is still extremely successful at treating this sometimes frustrating condition in individuals as young as 12-years-old.

Lactic Acid Chemical Peels

  • provide a gentle exfoliation, moisturizing and lightening the skin, giving it a healthy glow.
  • Recommended for all skin types.
  • This is the only peel that is recommended for pregnant women, especially those with “Mask of Pregnancy.”
  • Lactic Acid chemical peel will lighten or remove the mask.
  • Because lactic acid is already present in your body, it will not harm the baby.

Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid have a more “potent” effect.

In addition to providing a deeper peel and resulting in a youthful and radiant skin, these chemicals can be used for the treatment of a variety of skin disorders, including oily skin and acne.

For an optimal experience, a Medical Chemical Peel treatment can be used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatment modalities, such as IPL and Laser Skin Photo-Rejuvenation treatments, and Medical Microdermabrasion, for optimization of the aesthetics and anti-aging skin care.

What is the difference between a Medical Chemical Peel, performed at Artisan Med Spa, and a Spa Chemical Peel treatment?

The Chemical Peels performed at spas only use spa-grade chemicals which contain a substantially lower percentage of the active chemical ingredient. Furthermore, they are not performed or monitored by a licensed physician. The Chemical Peels performed at medical spas and centers, use physician-grade chemical solutions that contain a substantially higher percentage of the active ingredient. These services are either performed or directly supervised by a licensed physician.
